Hi, I’m Julie, your cook, friend, your long lost relative with an off sense of humor that you would rather forget… I’m a wife, mom, daughter, sister, astronaut….okay, maybe not all those things, but I do love my family.
Family has always been a big deal in my life. My grandma was a hospitality expert, and loved to entertain for family members who passed through California on a visit. She would call all the local family members and tell us what day and time the person was expected and we’d all go visit. I remember many times sitting around her dining table, swapping stories, getting the latest family updates, and of course, eating. My grandma could make enormous meals in her tiny kitchen on that old Wedgewood gas stove. I remember it had a griddle on top, a storage compartment on the side where she kept her cookie sheets and three little tray things that pulled out like a mini drawer. She moved the stove with her from the big farm to their retirement farm. I remember waiting for what felt like days for her fresh homemade zwieback to come out of the oven. I didn’t pick up the gift of bread making, but I keep the faith that someday, it may come to me.
I’m glad you stopped by and I hope you will find lots of good things here to make for your family. Ya’ll come back now..
~Julie
